Stigma associated with mental health conditions harms 1 in 5 Americans. It shames them into silence and prevents them from seeking help. Stigma occurs when someone, or even you yourself, views a person in a negative way just because they have a mental health condition. People experiencing this type of stigma describe it as a feeling of shame or a sense of being judged by someone else.
Community Partners for Hope will be working with the Pequannock School system to host a "STIGMA FREE WALK” on Sunday October 3rd at noon at the Pequannock Township High School track. Resource tables are available for non-profit organizations that address substance use disorders and mental health. A registration website will be open in early September.
