I want to thank everyone that assisted with my installation service on Sunday, November 22nd. My family feels very blessed to be part of this church and community. The installation was...special in a lot of ways. We including the vows and covenants that are very important to the liturgy of an RCA church. But, we also went off the map just a little.
We asked the children, youth, and several committed volunteers to participate. It was fun and quite playful. Some might have thought it was a bit irreverent, but here's the thing - Growing churches usually experience some level of playful familiarity in the worship experiences. That's right - Thriving churches experience a kind of reverent playfulness from time to time. Worship is still focused and oriented toward God, but there is a little room for levity and laughter.
So, we had a few laughs and enjoyed some confetti. God was still honored, and our church family became just a little more magnetic.
