Holy Week Events

The Christian season of Lent culminates in Holy Week. Starting on Palm Sunday, we remember the days leading to Christ's death and resurrection through the celebration of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Please join us at one or all of these special services.

Palm Sunday - March 25th: 8:30AM and 10AM. This service offers us the opportunity to celebrate Christ’s entrance into Jerusalem and into the remembrance of the final week of his life on earth—walking with him through the depth of sorrow to the light of the resurrection. This creative service will involve children, symbolism, art, and music. Both Palm Sunday morning services will be held in the Sanctuary. Come and celebrate!

“Light Into Darkness” - Maundy Thursday Dinner & Worship. March 29th at 7PM in Friendship Hall to Sanctuary.
Enter into the Upper Room where we will have dinner together, followed by the story of Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples. We will then journey into the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus was betrayed and arrested. This service is meant to move you into an emotional and spiritual place where you can truly value the meaning of the resurrection on Easter morning. Roast Beef Dinner will be $12 for teens and adults, $5 for children. Children 5 and under are free. You can sign up and pay online www.firstreformedchurch.com or in Friendship Hall starting March 4.

“And There Was Darkness” - Good Friday Ecumenical Worship Service at FRC. March 30th at 8PM in Our Sanctuary.
“And There Was Darkness” will be a unique service written by PK in which we will name some of the suffering in our culture today (school shootings, discrimination, addiction, abuse) and hold it up against the suffering of Jesus and his cross. Congregations, clergy, lay leaders and choirs from FRC, Pompton Lakes, Pequannock, and Wanaque Reformed Church will unite for worship. This promises to be a moving service that you won’t want to miss.

Easter Sunday. April 1st at 9AM & 10:30AM – Both Services in the Sanctuary to the sound of our choral voices with brass quartet, we will celebrate the greatest news ever heard—the pivotal point of history-in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a day of celebration and joy! Invite your friends and family to worship with you. Coffee hour will be offered between the two services. There will be no Church School classes on Easter. Nursery care is available during both services.
