Location: Ministry Center/The Gathering Place, 529 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Pompton Plains, NJ, Pompton Plains, NJ US 07444

This five-week study, Fear of the Other: No Fear in Love invites participants to understand why some people in their lives and communities are considered to be “Other” and how to begin regarding these “Others” from the perspective of God's call to love in Jesus.

Willimon defines the “Other” as someone who is “different than you” – different race or ethnicity, different sexual orientation, different in theological, social or political perspective, different worldview, different in perspective.  The biblical call he makes is to not only figure out how to ‘live’ in the same culture together, but how to move toward valuing the “other” person, even when you disagree with them.

Willimon acknowledges that, in our current religious and political climate, “loving the Other” with whom you disagree may one of the hardest things that people of faith are called to do.  Yet, the goal of the study is to find a path forward where we can “agree to disagree” while still valuing the “other” person.  Pastor Kathleen will lead the study.
